Websites

The Virtual EDO project created a comprehensive platform for Economic Development Officers (EDOs) and communities to access resources, tools, and information related to economic development. The website serves as a go-to platform for new and experienced EDOs and communities, providing guides, mentorship opportunities, and resources to support their growth and success.

Hosting

The website is securely hosted on Saltmedia’s private server on Treaty 8 in Edmonton, with back-up on Treaty 6 in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Writing

We were honoured to support the very busy team behind the Virtual EDO project with content collection, organization, and writing. We identified all the appropriate content on the Cando website, organized it for the Virtual EDO site, and collaborated with the Cando team on headlines and summaries.

About

Virtual EDO is a platform sponsored by Cando (Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers) to empower Indigenous communities through economic development tools, guides, education, and training for Economic Development Officers (EDOs).

Challenge

The main challenge was to create a website that caters to both new and experienced EDOs, providing them with essential resources and tools to support their professional development and community growth. The website needed to be user-friendly, engaging, and accessible, with a focus on Indigenous economic development.

Insight

There was a lot of content available that needed to be organized in the best way possible to empower quick access for Economic Development Officers and communities. We worked with Cando to create categories and developed a custom search feature to streamline searches that prioritized existing Cando content while providing access to additional information from a variety of verified sources.

Results

The new website successfully provides a comprehensive collection of tools, guides, and information for EDOs and communities. The platform has improved accessibility and user engagement, with positive feedback from users. The search features helps users find the right resources from verified sources across Canada. This site is built with room to grow as new resources and features are added.
