Last time, I talked about the professional web design process and the level of service you can expect to receive when you work with an expert team, like our own, here at Saltmedia. Today's post focuses on content, and more specifically, what it is that you need to consider as far as content goes to achieve a website that looks and sounds professional.
Professional websites have well written content that informs and entices readers. For businesses, the goal is to attract the attention of site visitors and to convince them that yours is a product or service that they need to buy. In order to convert visitors into customers, you need to convey authority and build trust, and content that isn't compelling or that's full of grammatical errors will fail to bring the business you need.
If writing isn't your forte, you need to hire professionals, and a full-service web development company, like Saltmedia, will have writers on staff to get the job done.
While Google and site visitors appreciate websites that are informative, it's always better to focus on quality versus quantity. A huge site with dozens of poorly written pages won't impress, so take note of the following when creating the content strategy for your website:
A question that clients ask us all the time is whether or not they can add to their websites down the road. While it's always possible for us to create new pages and to add content as your business changes and grows, it's a good idea to add as much to your website as you think you will need, right off the hop. There are several reasons why this is important, but in particular, you want your website to stand out as an authority in your industry to both potential customers and Google.
That said, it's also important to keep a few areas available for updates, such as a company blog or a promotions page. When Google and site visitors see that you're serious about your business, you will be rewarded in more ways than one!
Stay tuned for the last in this miniseries on professional websites, when we'll be talking about the importance of Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL.
