Website Design & Development

Websites

We built a website for the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation that is both an information source for the members of the Nation, and an introduction to the AWN for anyone who would like to learn more about them. The website includes historical photos and information, job opportunities, services, and an embedded YouTube link to a documentary.

Hosting

This website is hosted by Saltmedia on Treaty 6 territory, with replications going to Treaty 8 territory every few hours. We love to meet our customers’ unique needs while giving them secure and reliable hosting.

About

The Aseniwuche Winewak Nation originally lived in the Rocky Mountains and were known for their horsemanship and their connection with the land. They were removed from their homes in 1907 when Jasper National Park was created. Some families then settled in the Grande Cache and Smoky River area. Today, they work tirelessly to support services in the community and preserve their land, language, and culture.

Challenge

It was important to build a website that truly represented the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation, and their current website was stale and outdated. AWN had hired a UI/UX designer to ensure high user experience and they had brand assets ready to go, but they needed it all pulled together to be cohesive and uniquely theirs.

Insight

We were very fortunate to work alongside AWN’s chosen graphic designer from Gold Communications who has supported them for quite some time. She not only had all the amazing graphics and branding you see on the site, but also coordinated the online experience, flow, and sitemap. In addition, they brought their own written content ready for the website.

Results

By closely following their directions, we created a site that represents the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation and provides all the information they wanted to include on the site. We strongly encourage everyone to watch the documentary about these people. You can find the trailer here.
